History

1968

Established joint company between Harold Marshall & Fred Stern as “Stern & Marshall (Pty) Ltd” and traded as Supersales.

Objective was to be South African representative office for overseas companies wishing to sell their products in South Africa. Product range: Electronic components & products, electrical products.

1974

Started first factory to manufacture TV aerials for SA market under license from DX Antenna of Japan and Wolsley of UK. Started distribution sales for TOSHIBA fluorescent lamps.

1979

Marshall International Sales (Pty) Ltd formed to handle electronic products & components. Represented companies from Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong.

Introduced the first 8-track car stereo equipment into South Africa and then Cassette Car Stereos. Products included components for local manufacturers, car stereo players and audio products on OEM basis to South African companies with OEM branding.

1981

Started new division for two way radio communications. Appointed as South African distributor for STANDARD RADIO of Japan. Began distribution of counter surveillance and surveillance equipment to Government Law Enforcement Agencies and corporate clients.

1982

Sold financial interest in Stern & Marshall (Pty) Ltd to Fred Stern.

1985

Land Mobile Radio Association formed with all major dealers in South Africa. Harold Marshall elected as first Chairman of the LMRA. Held office for 6 years.

Established liaison with SA Post Office (the LMR regulators) to co-ordinate Mobile Radio activities in South Africa. LMRA negotiated privatisation of Communal Radio Repeater systems.

Member of numerous committees of the South African Post Office and South African Bureau of Standards for drafting regulations and recommendations related to Radio communications.

1987

Organiser of first LMR exhibition in South Africa and following two Expos, held every two years. Promulgated discussion with regulator (SAPO) for the introduction of Mobile Radio Trunking in SA.

Member of the South African Bureau of Standards committee to draft specifications and regulations for Mobile Radio Trunking as well as other Mobile Radio subjects. Purchased our own premises at 89 Broadway, Bez Valley to meet the expansion of Marshall International Sales cc.

1994

Appointed as one of the first service providers for Mobile Radio Trunking. Arranged training courses and submitted many published articles on Mobile Radio Trunking.

1996

Invited to write the module on Industrial Espionage for the SA Technicon for their Security Manager Training course.

Now

We continue to investigate local & foreign markets to keep up with the latest technology. New products are continually being introduced by us.
